Personal management can be perceived as reactive. A company will hire employees and pay them according to their contractual agreement. There is little room for modifications and compromises as the concerns and demands are catered there and then. The activities will be more or less administrative in nature.
A leader will have the task of ensuring harmony among his or her team members and the completion of a certain task within a time limit. Their immediate concerns will be to work as a mediator between the higher management and the lower management, with the aim of self satisfaction.

HRM deals with the overall resources of the company and with purpose of satisfying everyone within an organization. It further does not incorporate any defined rules but takes a proactive approach, where continued efforts are taken to improve the operations, strategic and management side of the company.
