Difference Between Milk and Colostrums
A newborn baby needs mother’s milk because of the essential ingredients that ensure a baby will grow up to be healthy and active. Not having the essential ingredients can result in the baby girl or boy experiencing a number of complexities and difficulties later on in life, with a healthy mind and body being the biggest of issues.
Colostrums and milk are both produced by the mother’s breast and even though they may seem very similar, there are a number of differences which separate the two and the benefits that they carry for the baby. Colostrums give the initial immune power to the baby’s system because of the high fat and carbohydrate quantity found in the natural mixture. The milk that is produced secondary from the mother’s breast, continues to add these later on but not in such a concentrated mix as found in colostrums.
Milk is known to be clear and white in colour, but this can be very easily differentiated from colostrums as this mixture is very creamy and yellow in colour. This is because of the high quantity of protein and essential fats to give the baby’s body a kick start in development, which it will naturally maintain from breast milk later on in life.
Another feature that separates colostrums from milk is the fact that the former is also known for its laxative qualities. This allows a baby to pass their first stools, which are the most difficult as they are black in colour and lasts 24 to 48 hours after birth. Colostrums also acts as a cleanser for the baby’s internal organs and compared to normal milk, the vitamin quantity is also many times greater, especially in Vitamin D and Vitamin A.
Milk continues to help the baby through various proteins and the immunity building qualities it possesses. Medical research now shows that a mother’s breast milk is essential for the good health of any child.
Having a higher quantity of Vitamins, fats, protein and many other essential ingredients, it is the primarily forming mixture after a woman gives birth and begins feeding her baby. It is the first milk produced and is very creamy and yellow. It is also essential in stimulating good health in the baby and mature milk production in the mother’s breast.
