In the recent times, many people from all over the world, particularly in USA, face copyright issues on their written work and thus sometimes lose their original work to someone else. Copyrighting your written work is the most important thing after completing your task which will protect the ownership of your work. In USA, there are many strict copyright regulations and after getting your written work copyrighted you become secure.     First of all, you need to make sure that your written work is completed from all aspects and you are done with proofreading it before applying for copyright.

    If you have applied for copyrights and after that you think some major changes should be made to your work, then you will have to get another copyright and your previous copyright will get cancelled automatically after editing the work.

    In USA, the U.S. Copyright Office issues the copyright for all written work and you need to apply for copyrights of your work when you think that your manuscript is complete and error free.

    After completing the written work, you should visit the website of U.S. Copyright Office and complete your registration by filling the registration form.

    Filling registration form on website is called electronic submittal of the application for copyrights and it is preferred in USA for any type of literary work.

    On the website of U.S. Copyright Office, you should go to the “Registration” button and then go to “Electronic Copyright Office” button which is at the bottom of the page.

    Make sure you have carefully read the security information or privacy policy and the terms and condition on the website. After that click on the “Continue to eCO.” and then create a new account.

    Account creation is mandatory as it will be used for all correspondence with the U.S. Copyright Office. For creating an account, you need to fill a form in which you will provide your personal details.

    Choose a username and password for using the website of U.S. Copyright Office where you will be able to see the updates relating to the approval or decline of copyrights for your written work.

    Then you need to go to “Register a New Claim” button and then follow the process. Complete the application for copyright of your work by providing details of your manuscript including title and type of work etc.

    After completing the registration form, you need to click on “Add to cart” tab for paying the copyright fee which is non-refundable.

    After that, upload your manuscript or written work in the form of an electronic copy on the U.S Copyright Office website and submit. You will get the email confirming that your application has been received.
