How to Make Taco Salad Casserole
A slight departure from the more traditional casseroles, a taco salad casserole is made in a similar way but with a unique flavor. Tortilla chips are required for the recipe, making the base for it, while additional ingredients are layered on top and baked in an oven. Not only is this recipe low on oil, it is a great mix of all the nutritious elements you require in your daily diet.

Utensils: Skillet, baking dish, small bowl
Ground beef: 1 pound
Chopped onion: ¼ cup
Chopped green pepper: ¼ cup
Taco seasoning: 1 envelope
Water: ½ cup
Crushed tortilla chips: 1 cup
Refried beans: 1 can
Shredded cheddar cheese: 1 cup
Toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, ripe olives, sour cream, picante sauce
You will need to prepare the ingredients beforehand if you want to make this recipe in the shortest amount of time. Chop and dice the toppings and vegetables first, alongside crushing the tortilla chips. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees while you work on the other ingredients.
Start by cooking the ground beef with the chopped onion and green pepper over a large skillet. Don’t put it on high heat and let it cook slowly as you stir the beef around for about 3 to 5 five minutes. Once it is thick and done, take it off the heat and put it aside.
Now begin layering the tortilla chips on a baking dish to make a base. Make sure the baking dish is greased before you layer the chips evenly on it.
Take a small bowl and stir the re-fried beans in it nicely before topping the tortilla chips with them on the baking dish. Again, make sure there is an even layer of beans on the chips.
Now you need to take the beef mixture you cooked earlier and pour it evenly on top of the re-fried beans. You also need to add the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture and layer them both out evenly.
Once it is all set, place the baking dish inside the preheated oven uncovered. You need to bake it for about 15 – 20 minutes until it is thoroughly done.
Once it is done, take it out and top it with lettuce, tomatoes and olives. The casserole should be served with the picante sauce and the sour cream for best results.
