The very first thing you have to do is, pre heating your oven to 150 degree centigrade (C°).
Make the dressing
Now, come towards the preparation of the salad’s dressing. Pick a large glass jar and add in the finely chopped garlic cloves, safflower oil, salt, mustard powder, freshly ground black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and the cayenne pepper. Now, pour in the fresh lemon juice and seal the jar properly. Hold it tight and shake vigorously until the ingredients mix well and form smooth dressing.
Rinse and drain the anchovy fillets
Place the anchovy fillets in a sieve or colander and rinse them thoroughly under warm water. Drain well and pat them dry with a paper towel. Now, place them on a cutting board and chop them roughly.
Add in the remaining ingredients
Add the chopped anchovy fillets to the dressing in the glass jar. Top with the pieces of French baguette, bite-size pieces of the romaine lettuce and the grated cheese. Cover the jar again by place its lid at the top. Hold it firmly and shake with your full force until all ingredients incorporate well.
Prepare the egg
Pick a small pot or saucepan and pour in some cold water. Set the pot or saucepan on the stove over medium heat and bring the water to boil. Cautiously lower one large egg into the boiling water and remove the pot or pan from heat. Let the egg stand in the hot water for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove the egg from the water and set is aside at room temperate in order to cool well for peeling. Now, gently crack open the egg and scrap out its yellow portion (yolk) with the help of a medium round spoon. Place the half-boiled yolk in a medium bowl and beat it with a whisk or fork until extremely foamy.
Add the egg to dressing
Pour the whipped egg into the rest of the dressing and stir them thoroughly until mix well.
Prepare the croutons
Pick a bowl and add in the bread cubes. Top with the Italian seasoning, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon of the grated cheese. Use a large spoon or fork to toss the ingredients well and to coat the bread slices.
Line the baking tray
Line the baking tray with a foil and arrange the coated bread pieces in a single layer on a medium baking tray. Place the tray in the pre-heat oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Combine all the ingredients of the salad
Take a large serving or salad bowl and pour in the dressing. Add in the remaining grated cheese and the romaine. Sprinkle the salad with some croutons to taste and toss the ingredients to coat well.
