First of all, you have to prepare yourself for an admission in a law school which is normally very difficult because of tough competitive.
You must choose those subjects during your high school which require a lot of in-depth study, for instance history, English or political science. In this way, you will be able to prepare yourself to study law. Furthermore, if you know that in which areas of law you like to pursue your career, you can also take elective courses right from your high school and college.
Search for a law school of your choice which has been give accreditation by the American Bar Association. You must keep in mind the deadlines of the application form submission of various schools in which you intend to apply.
You will have to prepare for the Law School Admissions Test (L.S.A.T). You have to inform the Law School Data Assembly Service to send your test scores to the law schools in which you have applied, along with your college grades.
You have to keep in mind that during the first two years of your programme in the law school, you will be studying common subjects related to the law which mainly include contracts, property, tort and constitutional law.
You should seek for part-time clerkships at various law firms during your studies at law school which will help you in getting practical exposure of your field and developing a good network amongst the professionals. You have to seek clerkship in your area of interest so that you may get an advantage during your specialisation.
After completing your education and getting your degree of Juris Doctor (J.D), you have to give two-day written bar examination of the state.
