How to Make Almond Milk in a Juicer

If you do not consume enough dairy or soy milk due to the fear of gaining weight, you can use almond milk as an alternative, which is quite rich in protein. Almond milk, when mass produced, possesses preservatives and about 15 to 20 grams of sugar per cup. However, you can also make almond milk at home using a juicer or a blender. Homemade almond milk is healthier as compared to the mass produced version because it contains lesser amount of sugar and more nutrients. According to the experts, one should prefer the juicer as the popular models like Hurom or Omega strain at the time of creating milk.

Things Required:

– Juicer
– Almonds
– Water
– A large bowl
– Spoon or a ladle

Instructions

  • 1

Place the almonds in a large bowl

Grab a large bowl and put 1 cup of plain, unsalted almonds in it. These almonds are also called sweet almonds. You are now required to pour three cups of cold water in the bowl. Let the almonds soak for about 8 to 12 hours or overnight. This will make the almonds soft enough to be juiced. You can now drain the water and rinse the almonds nicely until the water runs clear.

    Add more water

Add another three cups of water to the bowl of almonds. Use a 1 to 3 ratio of almonds to water if you are making a bigger batch.

    Set up your juicer

You are now required to set up your juicer and turn it on. Begin to put almonds and water with the help of a spoon in the juicer carefully. Continue to add the almonds and water until the juice receptacle is full.

If your juicer does not extract pulp, you need to use a cheese cloth to strain the resulting almond milk.
