Don’t Let Yeast Infections Stop the Flow of Your Day: Be Prepared

A savvy woman is prepared to deal with a yeast infection at the first sign of itching, if she wants to get on with her day smoothly. You don’t want to be stuck in public, if you are prone to these overgrowths of the Candida micro-organism, especially if you have been eating carbohydrates, or drinking alcohol, or taking antibiotics, without something on hand to treat it immediately. It can be distracting from whatever is on hand. Relentless itching makes life miserable. If you know what to do, you can keep right on with your life.

If you treat them quickly, vaginal yeast infections respond easily, and here are some suggestions for quick relief. First, make sure you don’t make it any worse by eating or drinking anything sweet, including heavy carbs or fruits. Avoid fermented foods such as alcohol, cheese, and pickles. These will be just the tastes you crave, and the Candida is smart, and it will give you dreams and fantasies of just what it wants you to eat. Pizza, ice cream, beer. Once you treat the problem, those cravings will go away. Just wait them out.

You have a choice of two routes. If you go with the homeopathic path, you have to avoid garlic and mint. So if you have recently used either of those, even in toothpaste for example, homeopathic oral medications won’t be very effective. However, even if you have ingested them, you can still use homeopathics in the vaginal area. It’s best to avoid them even in that case, but the body seems to be forgiving.

If you are not using homeopathics, however, the best method may be to have a clove of garlic with you in your purse. It’s even small enough for a pocket. You can peel it and put it in your vagina, just making sure you don’t put it too far in. And be sure to remember it is there, and remove it within a day or two. Often, cautious people will wrap it in gauze and tie it off with that, or with a piece of floss. This may make the itching stop within minutes. This method of course may not be best if you are going to go running, will be intimate, are on your period, or are about to go to the steam room. Generally, though, it is impossible to detect the odor, and having garlic in is no different from wearing a tampon. If you remove the garlic and bathe, in a couple days you could use homeopathics topically, in inserts, or by mouth.

Homeopathics use subtle energies that are disrupted by garlic and mints, but otherwise they are all purpose and there are some excellent products. One handy one is a suppository by Yeast Guard. You can keep one with you at all times, and they are even smaller than tampons, very portable, and they come in foil coverings. Dash into the nearest bathroom and insert one, and sigh with relief. These are good to use regularly at night, for a week at a time, to kill the infection. Using these in the daytime can be a little messy, as they tend to leak a little at times. A panty liner may be a good idea. Yeast Guard also has an external cream. Not quite as tiny for carrying, but still small enough for a purse, and easy to use. However, using the insert will address the itching on the outside of your body, as well as healing the infection at a deeper level.

You can keep another homeopathic product by your bed, called Sensua Organics. This is not a handy size to carry except in a backpack, shoulder bag, or overnight bag. If you are visiting a partner who isn’t prepared with organic, natural sexual lubricants, you would be doing your health a favor by taking this one with you and avoiding the health risks of chemicals. It is good to use as an alternate or addition to the Yeast Guard inserts or external cream. This product doubles as a lubricant that helps protect you and your partner against flora imbalances when you are having sex. When the man uses it, that also helps you because if he has jock itch, it is contagious. Sensua Organics can also be used when you feel the itching coming on, or as a nightly regimen to prevent Candida. Don’t wear artificial fabrics to bed, such as underwear, and in the daytime, avoid them as much as possible, concentrating on cotton, wool, or silk, keeping your clothes loose in that region.

If you are using something homeopathic, but want more, you can use yogurt topically. This is not as convenient, as is more messy, but it will not affect the effectiveness of a homeopathic insert, though if you are using a topical product, it will interfere only while you are using it but not for an extended period of time. You can use yogurt topically, or inside. If you are out and about, and unprepared, this can be handy if you have an attack of it come on while you are in normal grocery land, rather than someplace you can buy homeopathics, or if you don’t want the smell of garlic. Just pop in a grab a small container of unsweetened yogurt. Check the ingredients and make sure it is simple, as many have added chemicals. A high percentage of people are allergic to pasteurized cow milk, but you may be more able to use goat or sheep yogurt, or make raw yogurt.

To stay Candida free, drink pau d’arco tea regularly, a pleasant tasting drink easy to get down. Caprylic acid, intestinal flora like bifidus and acidophilus, olive leaf extract, and oil of oregano are all helpful in treating Candida systemically. Keep a low carbohydrate diet and avoid sugars stringently. Stevia is an excellent sweetener that causes no problems.

Keep a small container of liquid or powdered Stevia in your purse, though check to see if the brand is pure, or has extra ingredients such as sugars. Then, whenever you drink tea (avoid coffee, as it makes Candida worse), are invited to stay for oatmeal breakfast, you won’t be tempted to use sugar. Never use artificial sweeteners as they have serious side effects. Stevia is wonderful in yogurt if you don’t like the plain flavor.

Keeping on top of your health will let you make it through your day being the person you want to be.
