Lace Yard Tree

If you’re crazy about decorating it might be that you’re getting bored with decorating indoors. There are lots of outdoor projects that you can do and one of your favorites could be a lace tree. You’ll get second glances from people when you cover a tree in your yard with lace. It’s a beautiful accent in the yard and much easier to do than you might think. Don’t have any lace? Use yarn, ribbon, or other supplies.

You don’t have to climb a tree and cover all of the branches. Instead, cover the trunk, and on up, until you reach the first branch. Measure around the tree and cut lace to be that wide – plus a couple of extra inches. Measure how far up you want to go with the lace and cut the length to that measurement. It takes a little bit of time to attach the lace, depending on the size of the tree, but it isn’t hard at all.

Start at the bottom of the tree and wrap the lace around it. You can secure the lace by pinning it, stapling it, or even by sewing it. Just make large stitches to create a seam without spending much time. Work your way up the tree, wrapping and securing, until you have covered the area of the tree that you want. The lace looks so beautiful that you’ll fall in love with your tree – and the new look that you’ve created for your yard.

You don’t absolutely have to use lace to decorate the tree. You can also wrap yarn or ribbon around it. It takes a good bit of time but, if you have a helper, it’s simple to go around and around the tree with the yarn. If you want to switch colors, just snip the original yarn and tie on the new color. With yarn, you can create a black and white arrangement for a yard wedding, a black and orange design for Halloween, or even a red, white, and blue wrap for the Fourth of July.

Whether you’re using lace, or yarn, you don’t necessarily have to wrap the entire tree. You can make bands that go around the tree but have large or small spaces between them; it saves time and material. The bands create a much different look than when you wrap the entire tree. Try covering one of your yard trees in lace or yarn today but be prepared for lots of stares.
