Surviving Corporate America: Opportunity

What loathing this society has over missed opportunities; and if we only knew then what we know now. It is not the clichÃ?© that is overrated, but the pessimist’s overuse of it as an excuse for squashing unsuspecting dreams and aspirations. You know now what you know because of then. You have the same opportunities as you did when you were younger; the only difference is that you now have the ability to approach that opportunity with the experience of Life at your side. Imagine the Ace you now have in your pocket – of having shed your naivety; of approaching obstacles with a worldly perspective; of having the wisdom to guide others; or of having the maturity to grand-slam unexpected curveballs. Opportunities are like good literature: a seemingly simple novel read at eighteen suddenly reveals meaning and symbolism when read again at twenty-eight. The reality is there is still time and opportunity to accept a new challenge, or finish one that was already started. Do not push today’s opportunities aside because there are other things that could, should, would get in the way. With each swell of personal loathing for wasted time and opportunity, imagine instead the possibility of avoiding tomorrow’s regret because you started working on an opportunity today. You are living and breathing today – just bite the bullet. Time waits for no one and no thing – and it most certainly does not wait for you to get on your feet.

“The 20th Century is a stranger to me – I wish it well but my heart is all for my own century. I took 65 years of it, just on a risk, but if I had known as much about it as I know now I would have taken the whole of it.” – Mark Twain; Notebook
