The Price is Right: The Greatest Show on Television

The Price is Right is by far my favorite show on television, and it has been since I first started watching TV. Being a college student, I’m one of the prime age groups who watches this show. The other target audience?… Senior Citizens. Isn’t that enough? What other show can rival The Price Is Right’s stranglehold on the 18-88 age range? None, exactly.

The Price Is Right knows what people want, free prizes… it’s kind of a no brainer. To win these prizes, all you have to do Is be motivated, and mail or email The Price Is Right and request tickets. Once you get these tickets you can travel to the Price Is Right studio in California and you’re almost there. Once in the audience, besides cheering like a crazy person, all you have to do is wish you hear your name when the voice comes over the speakers and begs a luck Price Is Right Contestant to “Come on down!”.

Once your name is called, you’re now a contestant on The Price Is Right. Congratulations! You’re now on what is called contestants row, where you and three other lucky Price Is Right members get to bid on lovely items. After the models, Bob’s Beauties as they are called, show you the item, tell Bob how much you think it goes for, retail. But don’t overbid, the winning bid is that closest to the actual retail without going over. If all contestants overbid, a do-over occurs, and if somone hit the nail right on the head, The Price Is Right dishes out a sweet cash bonus.

So if your lucky enough to go on stage, there are some basic rules to follow.

1. Be Frantic- this is your time to run around like a chiken with its head cut off

2. Scream- let the people in the audience know you’re excited by screaming like it’s going out of style

3. Show some love- Give bob a hug, or ladies, go in for a little kiss!

Next up for you is the Price Is Right pricing games. These include gifts like furniture, hot tubs, and less often CARS. Now, if you hear the announcer say “This new caaaaaaaaaaar”.. GO NUTS, because the audience will. Run around the stage or jump up and down repeatedly.. either is acceptable. The only Price Is Right pricing game more exciting than one including a car is the ever elusive Plinko. Plink is the creme de la creme pricing games, with the chance to win up to $50,000.

Regardless of your outcome on the pricing games, your main objective is to get to the showcase. In order to get there, you’ll have to beat two other players in the Showcase showdown. In this section of the show, you will spin the Price Is Right wheel. A giant wheel covered in amounds between 5cents and one dollar. You get two chances to get as close to $1 as you can. If your spins total $1, you just picked up $1,000 cash. You will get an extra spin, one spin to land on one of the three Bedazzled sections or 5 cents, 15 cents, or $1. If you get one of the lower amounts you bag $5,000 but if you get the $1, The Price Is Right will shell out an extra $10,000 for a total of $11,000!

So by now, you’re doing pretty well for yourself. You’ve made it to the Showcase, this is where The Price Is Right keeps the real prizes: cars, boats and RVs galore. If you’ve been kicking butt, which I’m sure you have been, you’ll be the top winner of the day, which places you in control of The Price Is Right showcase. As the top winner, you get the choice to bid or pass on the first prize package. As a rule of thumb, if there’s a car offered, you take the showcase, but it’s up to you.

Now, the same rules apply for the showcase, don’t overbid, because if you do you automatically lose. But if you can guess the price within $250, you win both showcases. So go out there and win all The Price is Right has to offer. But don’t forget, you’re going to have to pay taxes on all those glorious prizes you so happily took off the hands of those kind folks at The Price Is Right, but hey it’s worth it!

P.S. Don’t forget to customize your shirts, and if you go with a large group, you better all be wearing the same color! Happy Price Is Right-ing!
