Three Hot Coffee Shops in Chicago

Coffee shops of every variety line the streets of Chicago. Cold weather and chilly windy days make Chicago a coffee drinking city. If you are looking for some great local Chicago coffee shops that don’t contain the words Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts you should check out these great truly local coffee shops that really define what Chicago is all about.

Intelligencia Coffee is a local Chicago favorite in their vast world of coffee. I had never heard of this potent strong black coffee until I moved to Chicago. I have to admit I am hooked and was pleased to find an entire coffee house devoted to this flavorful and strong coffee. Although you can find Intelligencia coffee at many local restaurants and even sold by the pound in local gas stations, there is something great about taking time out of your busy day to visit the source of all this caffeinated goodness. Intelligencia Coffee is located at 3123 North Broadway Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60657. They serve up thirty different varieties of coffee beans that are roasted nearby in their Bucktown Roastery. You can’t get any fresher than that! The coffee shop combines that hip and comforting style that permeates the Chicago restaurant scene. Soft music, plenty of seating, and a friendly staff make this Chicago coffee shop a perfect fit for anyone of any age. There are big tables in the back of the coffee shop perfect for lone coffee drinkers looking to join some interesting conversations. If you are in a quite mood you can sit at their ledge that looks out onto the street and sip you coffee. Watch the world go by while you drink all thirty flavors! Intelligencia Coffee can be reached at (312) 563-0023.

Bourgeois Pig is located at 738 West Fullerton Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60614. They are a great local hangout for students in the DePaul area. Bookshelves are loaded to capacity with books providing great reading material. The Bourgeois Pig coffee shop offers four kinds of coffee brewed fresh daily. They also serve up the expected variety of espresso-loaded drinks you can find at any Chicago coffee shop. If you are there on a study break they also serve up soups, sandwiches, and salads perfect for a little energy boost while you refuel. The best thing about the Bourgeois Pig coffee shop is the second floor art display. Local Chicago artists show their work here. Live music is also played on Friday and Saturday nights making this is a truly college coffee shop in the bustling Chicago city. The Bourgeois Pig is open Monday through Friday 7:00am to midnight, Saturdays 10:00am to Midnight, and Sundays from 10:00am to 8:00pm. They can be reached at (773) 883-5282.

F212 is one of those hip coffee shops you would expect to see on MTV or something. Oh wait, that would be because the same designer who designed the set of Real World Chicago designed the interior d©cor of F212 as well. Funky, colorful, edgy, and approachable for all coffee drinkers of all ages. The interior design is accented by a DJ spinning tunes just like a club. F212 is definitely different than what most of us expect from a Chicago coffee shop. My favorite aspect of F212 is the beautiful use of warm reds and orange colors in the d©cor. Chicago is notoriously cold in the winter and an hour or two in F212 coffee shop will have you feeling like you spent a day in the sun. F212 is located at 401 North Wells Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60610. They can be reached at (312) 670-4212.
