White sweet potato is sweeter in taste than the orange sweet potato. The orange sweet potato has more beta-carotene that produces Vitamin A and the white sweet potato has less beta-carotene.

In USA, orange sweet potato is called Yam for distinguishing it from white sweet potato.

    The orange sweet potato, a plant of the Convolvulaceae family offers a great taste and people use it in almost all regions of the world. This dicotyledonous plant contains a large amount of beta-carotene which produces a considerable amount of Vitamin A and people love to have it in order to stay fit because Vitamin A is very beneficial for health. In USA, the orange sweet potato is called Yam. The colour of orange sweet potato is dark and its skin or peel is thick and hard. That’s why the orange sweet potatoes can be preserved for longer period of time. The orange sweet potato produces a good taste which is slightly sweet.
