Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo Overview

The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo are located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, right on the Level Ground floor of Dubai Mall.  The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater zoo is home to both underwater and land creatures.  The Aquarium holds a Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Acrylic Panel’.  Just imagine the possibilities of different activities you can do with your kids at the zoo. In this guide we look at list of different fun activities  you can do with your children at Dubai underwater Zoo, Dubai Aquarium in Dubai Mall and the opening hours.

The hours of operation are:

Sunday to Wednesday- 10 am to 12 midnight (last entrance at 11:30pm).
Thursday to Saturday – 10am to 1am (last entrance at 0:30am)

    The way it is set-up, you will first tour and explore the Aquarium through the view of the Acrylic Panel. The sight of this Aquarium instantly impresses all the tourists standing nearby taking pictures of such wonderful beauty. Only barrier between you and the sand sharks is this acrylic panel. It is home to many underwater creatures like; sting rays, sharks, and all types of fishes. Within this step you will experience the Aquarium tunnel.

    The first activity I suggest you start with is the Paradise Island; a new part of the zoo that features presentations on island animals.

    There are glass bottom rides, imagine such an amazing experience of seeing the countless underwater creatures through a bird’s eye view. Kindly, note children 3 and under are not allowed to take part in this activity. There are departures every 10 to 2o minutes but you go to the Level 2 of the Underwater Zoo.

    The cage snorkelling activity is just outrageously exciting and you can share the memory with four friends as the cage allows up to 4 persons. In order to take part in this activity you must wear snorkelling equipment; therefore the age requirement is 10 years of age and over. Those interested will dive into another world while inside a closed cage. Keep your fingers and hands inside!

    Are you ready for this activity? For this activity you need courage, as it is called Shark Dive. Just picture coming face-to-face with one of the deadliest animal known to human kind. You dive right into the 10-million litre tank, and best thing is you do not need to be an expert diver or swimmer. There is also an age requirement of 10 years of age or older.

    Finally, you can purchase any of their aquarist courses which may include; watch a shark feeding session, help in feeding the animals, and much more. Please see below:

    Junior Aquarist for 150AED-
    Open for children 5- 7 years of age.
    Kindly, note this course is available every Friday and holidays between the hours of 2pm to 5pm.

    Senior Aquarist for 250AED-
    Open for children 8 years of age and older
    This course is available every Friday and holidays between the hours of 1pm to 5pm.
