Open up the cans of guava and plum. Drain the syrup from both the cans into a large saucepan and start heating it. Cook them until the syrup is reduced to almost half and goes fairly thick. This will make your dressing. Add 1 tablespoon vanilla extract to the cooking syrup.
While the syrup is going, divide the plums among the four serving bowls. Do the same with the guava halves. However you may have to de-stone the guavas. Spoon over the syrup over the fruits. Now sprinkle the chopped pistachio nuts all over the bowls and serve to the delight of everyone.
