How to Give Yourself a Pep Talk

Things do not always go according to your expectations and times come when you are disoriented, scared and uncertain about the coming days. Sometimes, not even your near and dear ones understand your feelings and it seems there is no ground beneath your feet.

In such situations, giving yourself a pep talk is the most effective way to be normal. It is not self deception which keeps you in a state of denial rather it is a tap on your shoulder which boosts your confidence. You can inspire yourself by doing a couple of things during a pep talk.

  • 1

    Find some proper place:

First of all, you need to find a quite place where nobody can disturb you. If you are outside then find a peaceful corner in some park and if you are at home then what place can be better than your bathroom.

    Stop blaming yourself:

You must be in the right frame of mind so stop crucifying yourself. Look at the bright side of the picture, accept and embrace yourself the way you are. Stand in front of the mirror and say something nice and inspirational to you.

  • 3

    Perk your soul up:

Do something that can drain out all the worries and lighten your soul. It can be anything like listening to music or watching movies. Share some crazy moments with you and try to laugh out loud.

  • 4

    Think about your achievements:

You must boost your confidence by thinking about the events when you managed to be successful against all odds. Make yourself realise that there will be no glory for you without a strong character.

    Console yourself:

You must console yourself and say “You are strong to overcome anything”. Imagine yourself like a fighter who is getting advice from the coach. Take long breaths and punch in the air. This will relieve your physical tension.

    Use powerful words:

As you need to face the situation with high spirits so try to use powerful and motivational phrases in your pep talk. Use sentences like “I am the best”, “I am unstoppable”, “I am capable of doing this” etc.

    Imagine yourself in the situation:

Another important thing you should do is to imagine yourself in that situation. Prepare strategy and ask questions about the plan of action. Take a walk and talk like a counsellor. You will see a significant difference in your character.
