How to Make a Custom Mother’s Day Cocktail

Mother’s day is a great opportunity for you to surprise your beloved mom and make her feel special for all the love and care she has given you. While you always have the option to purchase a jewellery item or a ready to wear trendy dress from the market, a handmade item is more touching and a better expression of the affection you hold for your dearest. Cards, gifts and thankyous are great, but why not do something different for the special lady this time around and whip up a wonderful cocktail for her? There are a number of Mother’s day special cocktails that you can make to tell her that you appreciate all she has done for you.

    Horseradish Vodka Bloody Mary

    Ingredients:

    - 1 piece fresh horseradish root (enough for 1 cup coarsely grated)
    - ¼ cup whole peppercorns
    - 1-3 whole dried chiles
    - 1 32 ounce bottle of low sodium V8
    - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    - 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
    - 1-3 tablespoon prepared horseradish
    - salt and pepper
    - lemon
    - celery seed
    - Old Bay

    Coarsely grate 1 cup fresh horseradish and add it to 1 litter of vodka containing the peppercorns and whole chiles. Allow the ingredients to infuse overnight. In the morning, strain the vodka using a wire sieve and store in a clean bottle.

    Pour 1/4 cup of V8 juice out of the bottle and add horseradish, Worcestershire, Tabasco, salt and pepper to the remaining juice. Shake the bottle well in order to combine all ingredients. Add ice cubes to a glass and fill ¾ with the infused vodka and the Bloody Mary mix. Squeeze half a lemon into the glass and sprinkle Old Bay and celery seeds. Finally, garnish your glass with celery or lemon wedges before serving.

    Lotus Cocktail

    Ingredients:

    - 1 ½ ounce Hendrick's Gin
    - ¾ ounces Domaine du Canton
    - 4 pieces sliced cucumber
    - 2 ounces club soda
    - Crushed Ice

    Take a highball glass and place it in the freezer to chill. Meanwhile, take three slices of cucumber and cut each into quarters. Muddle the cucumber pieces with Canton in a mixing glass. After the cucumber has been sufficiently crushed, pour in 1 ½ ounce Hendrick's Gin, a level scoop of ice and swirl the glass for 15 to 20 seconds to allow the ingredients to combine.

    Strain the mixture into the pre-chilled glass. Now add club soda to the cucumber mixture, shake and strain into the serving cocktail glass. Stir the drink and garnish with a cucumber slice.
