How to Make the Ultimate Club Sandwich

Club sandwiches can be made with a variety of fillings and in various styles. Some prefer chicken to turkey, mayonnaise to aioli, or white bread to bran bread. Everybody has their own favourite recipe. The best part is that you can play with the fillings of your choice and make it either decadent or pure nutritious. It is filling and can be eaten as a snack or a meal. So bring your bread and start to make this ultimate club sandwich.

Utensils: Fry pan, plate, knife

Sandwich Bread: 12 slices
Mayonnaise: 4 tablespoons
Prepared Basil Pesto: 1 tablespoon
Prepared Sun-dried Tomato Pesto (or Just A Couple of Pureed Sun-dried Tomatoes): 1 Tbsp
Bacon, Cut In Half: 8 slices
Shaved Ham: 1/2 pound
Shaved Turkey: 1/2 pound
Avocados, Peeled and Sliced: 4 whole
Cheese (swiss, Mozzarella, etc): 4 slices
Romaine or Green Leaf Lettuce

    Toast your bread in a toaster till it is slightly crisp and golden brown in colour. Put them on one side. In a fry pan with a little oil, fry the bacon on medium, heat till it is just crisp. Pat it with a paper towel and set aside. In one bowl put prepare basil pesto with 2 tablespoon of mayonnaise. In another bowl mix another 2 tablespoon of mayonnaise with sundried tomato pesto.

    To assemble one sandwich, spread basil pesto on two pieces of bread. On one of the pieces, put ham and top it with lettuce and cheese. On the second pesto mayo piece, put ½ sliced avocado, lay bacon on top of the avocado. Put this piece of bread on the first piece, with the ingredient side facing downward.

    Start with the second layer now. On the 2nd piece, which is on top, spread some sundried tomato mayonnaise. Also take another piece of the toasted bread and spread tomato pesto mayo on it, put some cheese, ham and lettuce on the top slice of the sandwich. The remaining avocado will be placed on the third piece which had tomato pesto mayo on it, also add bacon slices on top. Put this piece of the bread on top of the sandwich, the side with ingredients should be facing downward. With the help of a sharp knife, cut the sandwich in half diagonally.
