How to Serve Smoked Turkey

A year-round treat, Smoked Turkey is a delicious item. Just like any other form of smoked meat, this wonderful stuff adds great taste to your recipe. Especially when some guests are coming, there is nothing better than the smoked turkey. It is an entirely different item than the fresh turkey that is cooked seasonally.

What makes smoked turkey different from others is that it can be used in multiple ways. It is a tasty and moist meat that you can use in soups, wraps, pasta and sandwiches. One can easily smoke the turkey in a smoker, or buy the one that is already prepared. In any case, the taste remains matchless. Here we discuss how to serve smoked turkey in a sandwich.

Things Required:

– 1 red onion
– 4 oz blue cheese
– 3 tablespoons low fat plain yogurt
– 1/4 C dried cranberries
– 8 slices hearty whole grain bread
– lettuce
– 3/4 pound sliced smoked turkey
– Cutting board
– Knife
– Bowl
– Wooden spoon
– Grill (optional)

    The first step is slicing the onion. The use of onions entirely depends on your choice. If you are interested in raw onion, you can chop it in any manner you want.

    However, the best possible way is grilling the onion. After brushing the olive oil lightly, grill the onion to get a nice smooth colour.

    Now, you need to mix yogurt and crumbled blue cheese together. If the cheese is not already crumbled, you can do it easily on your own. After mixing these two ingredients, stir in the cranberries.

    Take four slices of fresh bread and spread the cheese mixture. A couple of things need to be kept in mind at this stage. Firstly, the bread should be fresh, otherwise it will spoil the taste.

    Secondly, you should not spread a thick layer of the cheese, even if you are a cheese lover. Any extra quantity will not allow you to enjoy the taste of smoked turkey.

    Top the cheese material with the grilled onions. The third layer is for the smoked turkey. Again, the layer of turkey should be even, and not too thick. After spreading onions and smoked turkey, top with the remaining bread slices. Although it is not essential, a few people put the bread in the toaster for some time to get a crunchy taste.

    Press the sandwich in a way that all the ingredients mix together. You can serve it immediately. But the most appropriate way is to put the sandwich in the refrigerator at least for a couple of hours.
