How to Tether With Android

    The first thing that you need to do before you tether with an Android phone is to get your hands on an Android phone. There is a wide variety of such phones for sale in the market. Keeping your budget in mind, go for the one that you find affordable.

    Once you have the Android phone with you, you cannot do anything with it unless it is switched on, so do that and then unlock the home-screen. Check the battery to make sure that it is not running low. If it is, plug in the charger. Even if the battery of your phone is not running low, it is recommended to plug your phone into a charger as tethering consumes a lot of battery.

    Locate the settings icon on the home-screen of your Android phone and press it. You can also access the settings by pressing the main menu button on your phone.

    Tap “Wireless and Networks” and check if the Packet data is connected. This is important as your phone needs to have an access to internet itself before it can serve as a source of internet for other devices. Switch on the Packet data if it is switched off. Press the back button after doing that.

    Press the “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot” option next.

    Locate the small box next to “Mobile Hotspot” and tap it.

    Tapping the box will bring you to a registration screen, while a warning will flash on the screen. Tap “OK” in the warning screen and carry on to the registration.

    Read the license agreement thoroughly and then tap the box next to confirm that you agree to the license agreement.

    Tap the “Subscribe” button on the bottom of the screen to activate mobile hotspot on your Android phone.

    Navigate to “Mobile Hotspot settings” to set the settings that you want. You can limit the number of devices that can connect to the internet through your phone from here. You can also specify the devices that can or cannot tether with your phone.
