How to Win a Broomball Match

The basic goal of any broomball player is to win, but winning takes a lot of effort and passion. Mere luck can help you win a broomball match, but it definitely cannot give you confidence and courage you need to defeat a rival team. Broomball is about team effort and technique. If some of your team members are not capable enough to tackle the opponents, your chances of winning are slim.

In order to win, you need a game plan. Imagine a broomball team without a game plan. Will it stand a chance against its rivals?

But there are some basic guidelines that can help you carve out a victory.

    Make a game plan

    Game plan is not about making a plan and expressing ambitions to win, it is about planning what each player is supposed do and how the teamwork will be implemented in the rink.

    The primary goal of your team should definitely be to win and your game plan will be implemented keeping this goal in mind.

    Jot down important points on how the entire will coordinate and assign each player their position according to their expertise and experience. If you have players who have multiple skills like good defense techniques and aggressive attacking expertise, you can keep changing their positions during the match.

    Get every player involved

    Getting every team member involved in the match is the key to winning. You cannot win a broomball match with players having poor skills. If one of your team members is disinterested, or he/she lacks self-motivation, the entire team will suffer and winning will get harder and harder.

    If you lead the team, have a face-to-face meeting each player in person and try to gauge their confidence level. During the match, you have to make sure that each player is taking interest in motivating other team members. You need high fives, shouting, thumping fists while battling for victory in the rink.

    Focus on goalkeeping

    Your team’s goaltender should be able to stay on his knees as the goal post should be covered from every angle. Goaltender should be able to defend the goal post during the entire match because your team members may feel under pressure at one stage and rivals find this situation very beneficial. Especially, when your attacking position becomes weak and you fail to reach the opponents’ goal post in an attempt to score a goal, you come under attack and the goaltender is responsible for saving the team.

    Practicing well before the match can make your team members gain much-needed confidence and winning will get much easier for you.
