Veggie Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette Recipe

Utensils needed: cutting board, knife, strainer, salad bowl, mixing bowl, fork or whisk

– 1 cucumber –  sliced
– 1 green pepper – sliced
– 1 red onion – sliced
– 4 large tomatoes – cut into wedges
– 4 tablespoons olive oil
– 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
– 2 tablespoons mustard – Dijon mustard id preferred
– 2 tablespoons mustard seeds
– 1 teaspoon mustard powder
– 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce(optional) –  Tabasco is preferred
– Salt – according to your taste
– Ground Pepper to taste

    Cut the vegetables

    Grab a fresh cucumber, wash it and cut it into equal slices. Set the slices aside. Cut the green pepper into medium slices and place them aside as well. Peel off the red onion, wash it and cut into small pieces. Rinse four fresh red vegetables and slash them into medium wedges.

    Mix the vegetable slices

    Place all the vegetable slices in a large serving bowl and toss for a few seconds until mixed into one another. Set the vegetable-mixture aside until you prepare the salad’s dressing.

    Prepare the Mustard Vinaigrette

    Take a medium mixing bowl and pour in 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Top the oil with 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar and 2 tablespoons of mustard. Add in 2 tablespoons of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon of mustard powder. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of hot sauce all over the dressing’s ingredients and mix all of them with a fork or whisk. Continue mixing until all ingredients incorporate well.

    Mix the dressing and the vegetables

    Drizzle the rich dressing over the vegetable mixture and season with some salt and ground pepper to taste. Serve.
