Wilton Silly Feet Silicone Baking Cups: Recycle, Reuse & Revel at Their Simplicity!

If you’ve ever eaten a cupcake you know one of the most frustrating things is getting the paper liner off of it. Whether you peel it off before you start eating or while you are in the midst of devouring it, it can be a real pain. Wilton came up with a very green solution to that, silicone baking cups that are safe for the oven and can be used over and over again. The initial investment of $9.99 for a set of four might sting a little but once you use them and see how wonderful they are, you will completely forget about the price.

Set of four molds $9.99

I first purchased the Halloween Witch’s Feet version of these and shortly after using them I realized how fun they are and bought two sets of the regular Silly Feet Silicon Baking Cups. These are safe to bake in and make for a great presentation when serving; if you like to over fill your cupcakes to make oversized ones, these are perfect for the task. Why? You don’t have to worry about the tops sticking to the cupcake pan nor do you have to worry about them breaking or cracking when you try to remove them.

The easiest way to use these is to mix your cupcake batter, pour it into the Silly Feet mold them on to a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. The parchment paper will help with clean up in case there are any drips. Using a cookie sheet is a necessity because you need to have something flat for the mold to rest on or you could end up with one of them tipping over in the oven. I didn’t have to adjust the baking time but they did require a little extra time to cool off before decorating them.

Your resulting cupcakes will be the same size as a standard cupcake, two inches. You can leave them in the Silly Feet mold for decorating or pop them out but popping them out sort of defeats the whole purpose of buying the mold. If you just want a silicone cupcake mold, Wilton sells those for about the same price as a set of these and you will be able to make eight or twelve at a time.

The molds have incredibly rich colors to them that do not fade over time. The set includes one yellow, orange, blue and purple mold and they are great for individualized desserts or if you have a child that has food allergies. You can make them something special so they don’t feel left out when it’s dessert time and everyone is eating ice cream or having cookies.

You can purchase these at stores like Linen ‘N Things or Jo-Anne Fabrics but they are also available at the Wilton Online Store. The suggested retail price is $9.99 for a set of four and while that is more than regular paper liners, they can be used over and over indefinitely. I love the idea that I can decorated them in the mold and have more control over it while I am doing it. They clean up easily and can also be used for serving other types of food or on a dessert tray to hold candies like M&M’s, Skittles or miniature candies.

While these might cost more than regular paper liners they are nice to have around for special treats but they are not the least bit cost effective if you are planning a huge party. I like the idea of being able to use them over and over again and the bright colors that they come in but I wish they were a little less expensive. You can save a little on the price if you watch for the 40% off coupons from Michaels and Linens ‘N Things but you are still look at about six dollars for a set of four.
