CIPRO – – – – – -DESCRIPTION, USES and SIDE EFFECTS

CIPRO is a drug that belongs to the family of drugs known as fluoroquinolones and it is use to treat bacteria infections. There are two types of cipro, one is tablet and the other is oral suspension.

Cipro tablet is called ciprofloxacin hydrochloride while the oral suspension is known as ciprofloxacin oral suspension. Both of which are use to treat cases of stubborn bacteria infections.

Cipro is mainly use in treating adults as the safety of its use in treating children has not been established.

This product is not suitable for pregnant women and breast feeding ones since it can affect their unborn or suckling. So don’t take it if you are pregnant or will likely be, during treatment using ciprofloxacin tablet or suspension. There are some drugs that cannot be used along with ciprofloxacin. Such as antacids, sucralfate, vitamins and minerals containing calcium, magnesium and aluminum or zinc because these can alter the effect of ciprofloxacin. Therefore take these drugs 6 hours before taking ciprofloxacin or 2 hours after taking ciprofloxacin.

This drug is not for people under 18 years and should be used according to prescription strictly. Don’t try to stop taking it even if conditions prove to be alright, because in most cases there will be positive changes yet the disease has not yet been cured. And try to stick to time of medication as prescribed but if you miss, try as much as possible to take the missed one immediately, unless if the time is close to the next intake. Don’t ever take more than one dose at a time. Make sure you store ciprofloxacin under room temperature.

Overdose of ciprofloxacin can cause seizure. You should try avoiding staying too long under hot sun. Other side effects of ciprofloxacin are hallucination, joint and muscle pains, rashes and sunburn, liver damage and chest pain. If any of these occur stop the intake and contact your doctor. Other side effects can be managed and these are insomnia, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, lightheadedness and ringing in the ears.

For those who have kidney disease, seizure, and epilepsy, they should see their doctors before taking ciprofloxacin. To reduce the side effects of ciprofloxacin take plenty of water during the period in which you are taking ciprofloxacin.

There are different indications of ciprofloxacin and these are Cipro-250mg – – round, yellowish, and film coated tablet; Cipro – -500mg – -capsule-shape, yellowish film coated tablet and Cipro 750mg – -capsule-shape, yellowish film coated tablet.
