Fake Blood

It’s an essential part of any spooky haunted Halloween house. Pools of blood can really frighten your guests, especially when there’s lots of it. Making your own with a little food dye and some Karo syrup is a common way to get your fake blood scene going. But that can get expensive quick. It’s a good idea to buy it premade and in bulk if you really want a scary haunted house.

Fog Machine

Nothing beats the scary effects of a well-placed fog machine. It helps to hide the scary and spooky creatures until your guests haphazardly walk into their surprise zones! Renting a fog machine is what most people did in the past. Today’s fog machines are cheap, easy to maintain and small enough to use just about anywhere. Most fog machines can be bought for less than $50.

Sound Effects

While it does take many physical gags to make a haunted house appealing, it’s the spooky music that can turn any garage into a haunted mansion. There are huge amount of spooky soundtracks out there, so it’s a good idea to get a few different soundtracks to vary the effects of your newly built haunted house.

Animated Features

With the prices of animated electronics being as cheap as they are, it should be a breeze to pick up a few animated haunted characters for your haunted house. From crawling hands to floating ghosts, animated décor is a must have in any good haunted house. Be sure that you buy a few extension cords and plenty of batteries for these essential Halloween haunted house items.

Halloween Lights

While it’s always important to keep your haunted house guests in a darkened area, it can be dangerous if your haunted house is too dark. Black lights work great for many haunted house themes, however they tend to get very hot, very quickly. Opt out for a string of LED black or orange lights to help light the path through your haunted scene.
