Help with Saving Water at Home

If we stopped for a minute and added up all of the water we use daily, it would blow our minds. If you are paying a water bill, you already know how much you are using and would probably like to cut down some to save on the water bill. Our water bill became outrageous, so we had to come up with a plan. Here are some things to help you save water at home.

Showers, not Baths

We started taking showers and not baths. Not only did we start taking showers, but we got in washed and got out. So, we shortened the time for our showers. If you are one who runs a full bath at night, every night, then you may want to try showers as well. However, that doesn’t mean once or twice a week you can’t have that nice relaxing bath. Everyone needs those from time to time.

Cut Down on Washing Your Vehicle

Another thing that takes quite a bit of water is washing vehicles. Some people will wash their vehicle twice a week. That’s crazy and using a lot of water. Cut down a bit if you are washing your car like that. Once every two weeks is a good time frame for washing your vehicle.

Wash Dishes Once a Day

Some people will fill the sink up and wash dishes five times a day. They will fill it up for 5 or 6 dishes. Wait until evening to wash up all the dishes. That will save you from having to fill the sink up so much and waste that water. This goes for the dishwasher too. Don’t run the dishwasher three times a day.

Mind How You Wash Clothes

Instead of doing four small loads every day, wait and do one large load once a day, or once every couple of days. Some people can do laundry once a week. If that is you, then do it that way to save on your water bill.

Saving water at home will save you money. That is another bill you can cut down on to save money. I hope these tips help you as much as they have helped my family and I.
