House Cleaning Tips in the Heat

Cleaning the house is a chore many householders dread, but it is something that must get done on a regular basis if the home is to be kept clean and tidy. Cleaning in the heat can be particularly tiring and draining. What can you do to help keep your home in tip-top condition when temperatures are sweltering?

Turn on a Fan or Air Conditioner

Keeping the home cool and at a comfortable temperature will make it easier to get household chores accomplished. Turn on the air conditioner to help cool you down quickly. Or if you do not have one, make use of an upright oscillating fan and set it up to where it will help keep you cool. As you move around the house, take the fan with you, or turn on a fan in another room.

Tackle Jobs in Bite-sized Chunks

Tackling a deep clean when the weather is hot outside can be a chore in itself. It is easier to get household chores done in bite-sized chunks when the weather is hot and your energy levels are flagging.

Instead of cleaning the whole downstairs in one fell swoop, take just one or two rooms, such as the kitchen and living room, and concentrate on getting them clean. Vacuum areas that see a lot of people traffic and take care of other obvious areas that need to be done.

Stay hydrated

Everyone knows of the importance of staying hydrated while they are jogging, taking the dog for a walk or engaging in other kinds of strenuous activity outside in the heat. However, it is easy to overlook the need to stay hydrated while you are taking care of household chores.

Keep a water bottle with you as you move around the home cleaning and do not forget to replenish your supply on a regular basis. Staying hydrated will replace fluids lost when you sweat, which will make it easier to keep going for longer.

Cleaning the house may be the last thing on your mind when the weather is hot and all you want to do is head to the beach or take a nap. But rather than forgo cleaning altogether, there are still ways to get jobs done when you do not feel up to much. Turn on a fan or the air conditioner to help keep you cool, tackle jobs in bite-sized chunks and do not forget to stay well hydrated.
