How to Deep Clean Your Kitchen

You should deep clean your kitchen at least once a week. You also need to clean food preparation areas each time you use them. In my case, these areas include the kitchen table and the counters. In addition, you should spot clean throughout the week as needed. In order to deep clean the kitchen, you will need the following tools: a broom, a mop, glass cleaner, paper towels or a 100% cotton rag, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Clorox wipes, a sponge, water, and possibly a Sonic Scrubber.

If you have a ceiling fan, you will need a Swiffer duster. Begin at the top and work you way to the bottom. Start with the ceiling fan if there is one; use the Swiffer duster to clean each blade of the fan. Then move to other high areas — again use the Swiffer duster to wipe the top of the refrigerator. Move down a level and remove all products from the sink, and counters. I use a sponge or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and water to remove any built up grease or grime that may have accumulated since the last cleaning. If there is something that has an extreme amount of build up, I use my Sonic Scrubber. I then use Clorox wipes to wipe all of the food contact surfaces. I rinse these with plain water and my cotton rag. I use Windex and paper towels to clean my microwave door and oven door. I also use Windex and paper towels or a cotton rag to shine my stainless steel sink and fixtures. I check out the walls around light fixtures, etc. If there are scuff marks, I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove them. I then replace the items I had moved and move to the table. I remove all items from the table. I have a 1950’s table and chairs in my kitchen. I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean around the edge of the table. I then spray the table with Windex and wipe the entire surface with paper towels. I include my chrome table legs and trim. I do the same for the chairs. Even the chair surfaces can be cleaned with Windex.

Finally, I sweep the floors with a broom and then follow up with a mop. My kitchen deep cleaning is done. In most cases, I do this weekly. In between these cleanings, I used disinfecting wipes to do in between cleaning to wipe up an occasional mess. I keep a tub of wipes in the kitchen and the children are responsible for wiping down the table and chairs after each meal. We seep the kitchen floor each day after our dinner meal. If I do use Clorox Wipes in the kitchen, I always wipe with a wet paper towel after to remove any residue from my food contact surfaces. My family tries to clean up messes as they are made, so the weekly cleaning doesn’t really take long.
