How to Make a Great Stove Top Potpourri for the Holidays

This is a quick and easy way to fill your house with wonderful yuletide smells. It brings comfort and warmth to your home, it moisturizes the air and you can even trick your company in thinking you baked all day!

Things you will need to make Holiday Potpourri:

* Pot of water (whatever size you want, but be sure it is large enough that the water won’t evaporate too quickly. I use the pot I make spaghetti in)

* 2 Cinnamon sticks OR a few shakes of ground cinnamon

* 6 cloves OR a few shakes of ground cloves

* A few shakes of All Spice or use the berries if you have them

* Slices of orange, lemon or lime.

* The rind or skin of any citrus fruit

* Tea bags in your favorite scent (green tea, holiday teas, chamomile)

* 4-5 Anise Stars

You can use a few or all of these ingredients. Use your imagination and add whatever other aromatics you might like! Try adding some Rose Hips or Rose water, vanilla extract or the whole bean, bay leaves, lemon grass, marigold flowers, lavender, mint or any of your favorite essential oils. Comment and let us all know your concoctions that work!

Directions:

Fill your pot with water and add the ingredients you want to use. Bring to a boil and then lower to a simmer and the fragrance will fill the air. Remember to check on it from time to time so you prevent the water from totally evaporating and end up with a scorched pot!

There are so many different things you can add to this holiday potpourri to make this your own. Get creative and enjoy it! You can use it for every season!
