While using the acid make sure to not get any on your clothing or skin. If you are not able to use acid you can clean the area with a wire brush or using a hose with great water pressure instead.

Once you have cleaned the area with acid you will need to begin to fill the crack with injectable epoxy which will aid in filling up the cracks and causing both sides to stick together securely. If the crack is large then you should use a concrete patch agent which expands when mixed with water. The concrete patch comes in different forms but is often sold in a powder for easy use. Before you add this agent to the crack you need to make sure that the crack is as dry as possible.

Now that you have cleaned and filled the crack you will need to add the concrete to cover the crack. There should only be a thin layer of concrete that is added to the crack. If an excess amount of concrete is over the crack you can get this off using a concrete spatula. The spatula is also great for smoothing out the concrete to create a much better repair job. If concrete is out of the question you can use paint but it probably will not look as good as using concrete or sealant.

Once the concrete, sealant, or paint is poured over the crack you should allow time for it to dry before using it.
