What Your Handwriting Reveals About You

A few years ago, when I worked as a Human Resource Assistant, a department manager came to my boss with a serious problem. An employee in the manager’s department was accused of writing a harassing letter to another employee. Of course, the letter wasn’t signed. But since the two had an ongoing squabble between them, it was certain that the accused employee was guilty, even though he vehemently denied the charge.

So, the handwritten letter was compared to other papers in the accused employee’s file. Even though we were amateur Graphologists, both sets of handwriting examples did show a few striking similarities. But that wasn’t strong enough proof. My boss then instructed me to find a certified professional Graphologist.

A Graphologist is a person who has been trained to analyze people’s handwriting. He/She can determine whether the same person has written two documents, even though a person tries to disguise their writing. And, they can also attribute certain personality traits to a person based on the form of their handwriting.

You can apply some of the basic principles of Graphology to your own handwriting. From this, you can learn some things about your personality. Apply this science to other people, and you can find out strengths and weaknesses about others too!

To start this test, take a pen and paper and hand write a paragraph or two. If you can’t think of anything to write about, then write your name, address, and several lines about yourself. Be sure to sign your paper. Now you’re ready to begin an amateur analysis.

Let’s start with your signature. If it is readily legible and written in a fancy manner, this is a sign that you’re dramatic and flamboyant person. If your signature is illegible while the rest of your writing is readable, that means you strive to hide your true feelings. Is your name rather long, yet you sign it so it looks to be short? Then you’re probably reserved and shy. And finally, if your handwritten signature is written using large letters, then you’re considered to be an outgoing person who is confident.

Now take an overall look at the size of the writing of the paragraphs you wrote. Large handwriting indicates a proud nature who is often generous. If you write using large letters, that means you think big! Never small. You are an ambitious person who has things to do, places to go, and people to meet. Have you ever noticed that many celebrities have large handwriting? Large writing indicates ambition and success.

Small writing, on the other hand, can reveal that a person is humble and lacks self confidence. The person likes to keep to him or herself and not be caught in the spotlight. Is your writing slanted towards the left or right? Slanting to the left, according to the principles of Graphology, shows you are an introvert. You prefer to stay within yourself and hide your true feelings. Slanting to the right means you’re an extrovert. You prefer to boldly show your feelings and not hide them. A good job for you will be one that deals with the public.

If you’re handwriting doesn’t slant in either direction- that is, it’s upright- then that means you are in control of yourself. You don’t easily take sides. You are calm and independent.

Are your letters connected or disconnected? Do you hook each one together as you write? Or, do you separate some of them? If your letters are connected, that shows you are a person who is logical. Disconnected letters are usually used by a person who concentrate on details.

These are just some of the basic principles of the multi-faceted field of Graphology. If you want to learn more, log onto the Internet and visit www.Amazon.com. This site has many books that can further explain this interesting science.
