Difference between Maltese and Bichon

Two of the cutest dog breeds are the Maltese and Bichon. They are full of energy and really loyal to their owners. People all over the world, especially children love their company as they are extremely lively animals.

However, some people are unaware of the fact that these two dog breeds are completely dissimilar to each other, despite having a lot of physical similarities. If you don’t have much information about dogs, you will be unable to separate from maltese and bichon. Therefore, you need to learn some basic differences between these two breeds in order to make up your mind before buying one.

First of all, the maltese is considered to be a complete dog breed. Compared to it, the bichon is not a pure breed and is a mixture of different dog breeds. However, some of the kennel clubs do recognise the latter of the two as a standard dog breed.

Another difference between these two dog breeds is that the maltese has a long coat, which is quite silky. Therefore, you don’t need to groom it much as it appears to be a neat dog.

On the other hand, the bichon has got different types of coats. You can find these dogs with long and silky coats but they are also available in curly fur, which separates them from the maltese.

The coat on bichon dogs depends on the breed they are from. They are not an original breed, so they can come in many different varieties.

Similarly, you will be able to find the bichon in different colours. Comparatively, maltese dogs are often found in pure white with a few black spots, which are not even visible in most of the cases.

The average age of a maltese dog is 12 to 14 years, which shows that this dog can live longer than most other large breeds.

On the other hand, the lifespan of bichon dogs is more than 15 years, which means that they are a really good choice to have as pets.
