Favicons are the small icons that are visible as you enter the URL of a web-page in the address bar. It appears usually on the left side of the URL as it loads, besides this whenever you bookmark or save the page as RSS feed the site is usually represented by that icon.     If you are unable to edit and save header.php through dashboard, you can update it via FTP.
