If you have a sweet tooth for cakes and are looking to try out something different, then a snowball cake is something worth spending your time on. You can serve a group of friends with this treat, especially in the summers, when people are looking for something sweet and cold. This cake will take nearly a day to prepare but rest assured the wait will be worth it.
Ingredients
  • Unflavored gelatin: 1½ pk
  • Cold water: 4 tablespoon
  • Boiling water: 1 cup
  • Orange juice: 1 cup
  • Lemon juice: 3 tablespoon
  • Granulated sugar: 1 cup
  • Large angel food cake: 1 each
  • Whipping cream: 3 cup
  • Coconut shredded, or flaked: 4 oz
Instructions
  1. Since we will not be requiring an oven in the preparation of this cake, the first step is to soften gelatine in cold water.
  2. With gelatine softening up, take another bowl and boil water in it. Now pour this boiling hot water in the bowl with gelatine in it.
  3. Using a spoon, you need to stir vigorously to dissolve the gelatine completely.
  4. Now in this paste, the next step should be to add lemon and orange juice. Do not forget to add sugar as well.
  5. You now have to stir in order to dissolve the sugar completely. Be mindful not to leave any sugar at the base of the bowl.
  6. Once you are convinced that the sugar is dissolved, it is time to refrigerate this mixture until it is egg white.
  7. You would now need cream for this cake, so whip two cups of whipping cream using beaters.
  8. The next step should be to fold the cream into the thick gelatin mixture.
  9. You now have to break angel food cake into pieces which should not be more than one inch in size. You can alternate layers with whipping cream.
  10. You are almost done but you still cannot serve it yet, and although it looks good enough to eat you don’t want to ruin the flavour. You need to chill it overnight, or at least six to eight hours.
  11. Your cake is all set to serve; you can now cover it with a coconut topping.
