How to Make Bread Salad with Roasted Onions

Bread and onions are easily available in the market and are usually found in every household. Therefore, you can learn some recipes related to them in order to enjoy whenever you like. One of the easiest dish which you can assemble with these basic ingredients is bread salad with roasted onions. It is not only exceptionally tasty and palatable, but also has a good nutritional value.

Loaf day-old crusty breads – such as ciabatta or country peasant bread: 1 large
Salt (plus more if preferred): 1/4 tsp.
Ripe, heirloom tomatoes such as purple Cherokee or Zebra Stripes: 6 large
Stalks celery – trimmed, rinsed and cut into thin slices: 2
High-quality red wine vinegars such as Cabernet or Merlot: 1/3 cup
Bunch Italian parsleys – leaves only: 1/3
Dijon mustards: 1 tbsp.
Bunch basil – leaves only: 1/2
Freshly cracked black pepper (plus more if preferred): 1/8 tsp.
Extra-virgin olive oil: 2/3 cup

    Cut the bread loaf into large slices

    Cut the bread loaf into large pieces and allow it to dry for some time. There should be no moisture in it whatsoever, so keep it in a dry place.

    Mix vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper

    Take a small bowl and add vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper to it. Continue whisking this mixture and add a small amount of oil to it as well.

    Slice the tomatoes into large chunks

    Using a sharp knife, slice the tomatoes into large chunks. Add some seasoning to it and combine with bread.

    Add celery, parsley, vinaigrette and more pepper to the mixture

    Add the other ingredients to the mixture in order to enhance the taste. They are optional and depend on your taste. Toss all the ingredients continuously and allow them to settle in for a few minutes.

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

    While the bread salad takes time to settle in, preheat the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit in order to prepare the roasted onions.

    Peel the onions and slice them

    Remove the onion skin and slice it in large pieces. It will be ideal to choose four medium sized onions, as they will fit properly on one baking sheet.

    Add seasoning to the onion slices

    After putting the onion slices; sprinkle some salt and pepper on it. You can also add some olive oil and balsamic vinegar as per your taste.

    Place the baking sheet into the oven for 30 minutes. Once they are fully roasted, you will get a golden brown texture.

    Both things are ready to be served now. You can enjoy them with tomato ketchup or any other sauce of your own choice.
