How to Make Snickerdoodles

We all have different preferences when it comes to cookies and you hardly come across a person who doesn’t like them at all. Snickerdoodles can either be crisp or soft as this recipe makes the perfect soft Snickerdoodles.

Yield: 3 dozen
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Utensils: cookie sheet, plate, bowl


– Unsalted butter: 1 cup (2 sticks)
– Dark brown sugar: 1/2 cup
– White sugar: 1 cup
– Flour: 3 cups
– Cinnamon: 1/4 teaspoon
– Nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon
– Baking soda: 1 teaspoon
– Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
– Eggs: 3
– Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon

For the cinnamon topping:

– White sugar: 1/4 cup
– Cinnamon: 1 tablespoon
– Nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon

    Before starting it is a good idea that you thoroughly wash your utensils, work area and hands. Try to remove any clutter from your kitchen work surface so that you find what you are looking for while making this delicious cookie recipe.

    Put the oven on preheat at 425 degrees. Take a sauce pan to melt the butter or you could also put it in a microwave safe dish and melt it in the microwave. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, sugars, spices, salt and baking soda. The butter will be cooled by this time so add the eggs in it and whisk. Also, add vanilla essence to the egg butter mixture. Add this wet mixture to the bowl with dry ingredients and stir. A dough will be formed.

    Take a shallow bowl or a soup plate and make the cinnamon sugar by mixing cinnamon, nutmeg and the white sugar together. Using your hands, make half inch balls from the dough and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Make sure that the ball is completely covered. Take a cookie sheet and start placing the balls at a little distance from each other. Do not grease or line the sheet.

    Bake the cookies for exactly seven minutes, you may think they are under baked but take them out. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes and then place them on a wire rack. You can also refrigerate the dough to bake the cookies later as it should be wrapped in a foil. It can also be frozen for later use.
