Analyse how you want the garage to be
The first step in organizing a garage your garage is to make a plan, which has to be in accordance to how you use the garage. The things which you have to consider is where you park your car, where is your designated workspace, where do you store the tools
With all your priorities straight, it will be easier for you to organize your space.
Start making space
Take a trap, an old bed sheet or a blanket and spread it just outside the garage. Now start clearing all the scattered items inside the garage and put them randomly on the trap or bed sheet spread outside.
Sweep the floor
Once everything has been removed from the garage, clean the floor of the garage. This can be done by using a scrubber or a steel wool. If you have got a power washer, it will be the best option. If there is a need of painting this is the time to do so.
Sort out the items
Once you are done with cleaning the floors and the walls of the garage, you can come outside and sort all the like items within the heap you had made earlier. This is perhaps the most important step in the whole organization process.
Throw away the items which have outlived their shelf life
Most of the people have the tendency to store items which have outlived their purpose or shelf life with a hope that they might come in handy one day or another. This is a bad practice, and is the major culprit behind the unorganized inventory. After you have sorted out items of different categories, observe which items are necessary, and keep them. You can throw the rest.
Create a map of inventory and start refilling the garage
After the sorting and purging process is done, create a map of how your will place your items inside the garage and place them accordingly.
Make an inventory
Make an inventory of all the items you have, along with their location in the garage.
