How to Post a Job on Elance

Recently, more and more people are moving towards the online portals to outsource their work from people all around the globe. Elance is among the most prestigious freelance platforms that ensure the delivery of work and its payment, securing the money of both employer and employee.

In order to outsource his/her work, one should post a job on Elance so he/she could be able to attract bidders from all over the world. To achieve this, one should complete all the necessary steps carefully otherwise it would portray a bad image on the potential employee.

There are two types of categories for a job, hourly rate and fixed rate jobs. In general, employers use hourly jobs for a long term project, where they intend to engage the selected employee for an extensive period while fixed rate jobs are used for short term. The latter is comparatively riskier as Elance takes full control of the payment in the hourly rate jobs.

To post your job on the Elance portal, you will have to follow the following steps:

  • 1

Enter your username and password to log in.

  • 2

Write full detail in the job description part, so there should be no ambiguity in the mind of the bidder while applying for it, as it would save the time of both of you. Do not forget to mention the starting and closing date of the job and give a brief intro of your company. Elance also allows you to take benefit of their ready to use templates but if you no longer wish to use them you can always write your proposal in the given space.

  • 3

You can also upload up to 10 attachments that will help the bidder in having a sound idea of what kind of work is required from him as he/she would be using this as a template.

  • 4

Now select the category of your job, specify it as a fixed price or an hourly rate job.

  • 5

State your budget range and this will help you in attracting potential employees.

  • 6

To make sure that your job is displayed to the right audience, choose the appropriate category for it. For example, web development, academic writing or technical writing.

  • 7

Now specify when the job is going to start, so the viewer should know how much time is left.

  • 8

After all of this is done, click on ‘Post this Job’ to make it available to the Elance community.
