Dial-A-Ride Service in London

Dial-A-Ride is a division of the Transport for London (TfL) made for people with long-term disability or health problems who can not use the public transport. Dial-A-Ride can be used for shopping purposes, visiting family or friends or for recreational trips. It is a multi-occupancy bus service therefore one can find other people on-board for different destinations. One has to get ready 15 minutes before the pick-up time as the vehicle arrives 15 minutes before or after the designated time. The drivers of Dial-A-Ride are trained in providing first aid services, providing assistance when required and ensuring the comfort of passengers during the journey.

    What to expect of Dial-A-Ride

    Dial-A-Ride would assign a vehicle that suits your physical requirements. This can be a black taxi, a minibus or a people carrier styled car. The drivers help and provide assistance when getting on or off the vehicle.

    Availability

    Dial-A-Ride is usually busy, especially in late mornings, and therefore at times it is not possible for them to cater to every request. Sometimes they can only accommodate one side of the journey; either an outbound trip or a return trip.

    How to Get to Dial-A-Ride Office

    By Tube

    After you get off from the tube at Elephant and Castle tube station, stay on New Kent Road or A 201. Then the New Kent road will turn left and become Mandela way. You will then find the office on your right side. View Map

    By Bus

    Dial-A-Ride can be accessed from the closest bus stop called “Old Kent Road East Street (Stop BL)”. You may reach it through any of the buses numbering 21, 53, 63, 168, 172, 363, 453, N21 and N63. After you move off from the bus, move southeast on New Kent Rd or A2 towards Mandela Way. The New Kent Rd turns left from there and becomes Mandela Way and then the office of Dial-A-Ride will be on your right side.
