How to Make Fried Ice Cream

Astounded at the whole concept of fried ice cream?

Seems unusual right?

Yes, it is, but fried ice cream is unbelievably tasty, rich and filling. This refreshing velvety ice cream, melting inside a crispy biscuit shell, makes a marvelous finale to any special get-togethers, carnivals and fairs. It is one among the very well-liked desserts in the  menu of the many Asian and Mexican restaurants. However, you don’t have to visit any restaurant to try fried ice cream as you can prepare it in your personal kitchen.

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
Vanilla ice cream: 1 quart
Crushed frosted cornflakes: 1 cup
Sweetened coconut flakes: 1 cup
Large eggs: 2
Sugar: 2 tablespoons
Vegetable oil: 2 to 3 tablespoons
Hot chocolate sauce (optional): ½ cup
Whipped cream (optional): ½ cup

Instructions

    First of all line a tray with parchment or wax paper and set aside.

    Now use a scoop spoon to form four medium balls of the vanilla ice cream and arrange them on the lined tray.

    Immediately cover the ice cream balls with a plastic wrapping sheet and refrigerate them for a minimum of 2 hours.

    In the mean time, take a mixing bowl and place one cup of crushed frosted cornflakes and same quantity of sweetened coconut flakes in it. Mix these two ingredients and shift the mixture into a shallow bowl.

    Spread the mixture all over the base of the bowl, using the back side of a large round spoon.

    Take out the tray from fridge; dip them in the cornflakes mixture  and set them back in refrigerator. Freeze the coated ice cream balls for 30 to 35 more minutes.

    For now, break two large eggs into a medium bowl and top it with 2 tablespoons of sugar.

    Use a whisk to beat the egg mixture until the sugar melts completely and form a syrupy feathery mixture.

    Remove the coated vanilla ice cream balls, dip them into the egg mixture and roll in the remaining crumb mixture again until covered from all sides.

    Set in refrigerator again and free for another one hour or until thick and crusty.

    Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a pot or frying pan and heat it at 400 °F.

    Once the oil is warm, place the frozen vanilla ice cream balls in it and slightly stir fry them for about one minute or until light golden brown.

    Use tongs to remove the fried ice cream balls from oil and place them in four separate ice cream or dessert bowls.

    Top them with some chocolate sauce and whipped cream, as desired.

    Your fried ice creams is ready; serve and enjoy.
