Pallet Table

People who do crafts, and even home decorating projects, generally stick to glue guns, staples, tacks, push-pins, and other easy-to-do fasteners. They don’t usually take on larger projects, like working with cement, large pieces of wood, and power saws. Normally, it’s women doing crafts, and guys doing the larger projects. But there are no rules that dictate it should be that way. Don’t be scared; you can be a crafter and still make large, substantial things for your home, without a lot of trouble. Say you need a table for your craft room. Maybe you’re a guy who needs a work table out in the garage. It doesn’t matter; anyone can build a table using only three major things, and make the table in a matter of minutes. Interested?

Usually, a table takes a long time to build. You have to cut wood, make or buy legs for it, and you have to screw, saw, sand, and otherwise get the tabletop, legs, and supports ready. But if you need a table soon, and you don’t want to go through a lot of trouble to build it – or you think you don’t have the capability – there is one table you’ll find very easy to build – even if all you’re ever done is simple crafts.

When you start with two wooden pallets you can make a suitable table in very little time – and with little effort. Start by standing one pallet on its side, and then doing the same to the other, spacing them far apart or close together, depending on how long you want the table to be.

Lay a piece of wood, counter top, paneling, or similar material, across the pallets. Although it doesn’t matter how long the tabletop is, the perfect piece would be at least as wide as the pallets. Mark across the top of the table to indicate where the pallets are, underneath it. Then, it’s just a matter of screwing the tabletop to the pallets, and that’s really easy to do with a power drill or screwdriver. Screw four screws along each line you’ve drawn, spacing them evenly apart, and making sure that one screw goes into each end of each pallet.

If you have two pallets, and a board or other tabletop, you can literally build the table in a matter of minutes. Want the table to be taller than it is? Stand it on blocks or bricks. The pallet table is very sturdy and will last for many years. Use it as a craft table, a work bench, or even for displaying items in a yard sale.
