Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake Recipe

Cinnamon-Streusel Coffee Cake is one of the most favourite comfort-foods, commonly consumed during breakfast and as a dessert. It is gooey, soft, moist and gives a beautiful texture in the mouth.

There are can be lot of variations in the toppings which can be used, but generally brown sugar along with streusels are used for that purpose. One famous variation is the banana and coconut topping.

For the streusel topping and centre:

– 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
– 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Coarse salt

– 1 1/2 sticks cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
– 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped toasted pecans

For the cake:

– 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for pan
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Coarse salt

– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
– 1 cup sour cream

For the glaze:

– 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
– 2 tablespoons whole milk

    The first step is to make the streusel topping and that is done by mixing 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup packed light-brown sugar and 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon. Refrigerate it until ready to use.

    Let the oven preheat to 350 degree Fahrenheit.

    Mix the batter for the cake, spread it on the round pan that has been greased with butter.

    Sprinkle the batter with streusel.

    The next step is to put the cake mixture into the oven and cook it till the crust is golden brown. That generally takes somewhere between 20-30 minutes. The doneness of the cake can be checked frequently at the latter stage of the process.
