Take a deep breath and think
Before you do anything or make any choice, you should stop. Stop yourself and take a deep breath. It is very important that you think before you leap, consider the choices in front of you and make a conscious effort to assess them before deciding on one course of action. Most of the times, people go with their first impulse and end up making the wrong choice. You need to carefully consider the chain of events you are going to set in motion with one act and be mindful of the consequences it is going to bring.
Take no decision in anger
Always remember, anger is not your friend, it is your enemy. It numbs the brain to rational thought and gives false motivation to consider actions which would otherwise be declared ill advised. Never make a decision, especially an important one, when your judgment is clouded by anger. Take your time and cool down. If you are in a confrontation, walk away. Take a seat, drink some water and breathe slowly until you regain your composure. Once you are in control of your senses again, think about the decision again and see how you feel about it.
Consult your friends and family
You don’t have to do what others tell you, but discussing your issues with your friends and family will only help you get a clearer picture. You might not agree, but your own perception of things is always partial towards your own preferences. When you consider an option, you consider it within the frame of your own needs and desires, while in reality it may not be a healthy long-term decision. In such a case, consultation with friends and family can help you see different perspectives and consider the situation from impartial angles. Again, you don’t have to do what they tell you, but you will surely miss out on a lot if you don’t consider what they have to say.
