Get a marriage license
In order to get married at the courthouse, the first step is to obtain a valid marriage license. Visit the official website of your county, click on the Probate section, and then on the Marriage License section. You can get all the required information here about getting a marriage license. In most counties, marriage licenses are obtained at the Vital Records Division of your County Probate Court from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The next step is to download the Marriage License PDF document. It needs to be remembered that you do not need a blood test to get a marriage license now.
You have to pay two different types of fees in order to get a marriage license. You will have to pay one part of these fees if you and your partner are able to present a certificate of completion of a qualifying premarital education program. The other set of fees is applied if the couple fails to provide this certificate. If you have the license, you will have to pay approximately $21 in the United States, and without the certificate your total cost is going to be $56.
