First of all, make sure your system is working properly. Before hiding any files, go to the settings and give a command to your computer not to show hidden files. If someone has not done this, the hidden files will be visible with a crystal appearance.
To ensure that the hidden files are not visible, go to ‘Control Panel’ after clicking ‘Start’ menu. After opening the control panel, click on ‘Folder Options’. A new small window will pop up in front of you.
In the ‘View’ tab, check the box that says ‘"Do not show hidden folders". Push ‘OK’ to apply the settings.
After finishing with the settings, locate the file that you want to hide. Right-click on the file/folder, and click on ‘Properties’. If you want to hide one particular file, open the folder, and reach that file.
Right at the bottom of the properties window, you will see a couple of boxes. Under the heading of ‘Attributes’, check the box that says ‘Hidden’.
After checking the box, click ‘OK’. Refresh your system, and this will make the file disappear. The file is still there, but it is not visible to anyone. In order to ensure the file’s presence, press Ctrl A.
This is the short cut to select all the files. The system will notify that all the files cannot be selected, because there are a few hidden ones.
In order to unhide the file, you need to go to the control panel, and check the box that says ‘Show Hidden Files and Folders’.
The system will start showing the hidden files with a crystal appearance. Right-click on the file, and uncheck the ‘Hidden’ box.
Since, you want the rest of the files to stay hidden, again check the ‘Do not Show Hidden Files and Folders’ box.
