How to Start a Recycling Center
Recycling is a process in which used materials are again used in order to prevent wasting fresh resources. With the ever increasing environmental awareness, the process of recycling has increased with the passage of time. People are now aware of the harm that different non-recyclable items have on the environment and concerted efforts are being made to use materials which can be easily re-utilized One example of this awareness has been the significant decline in the usage of plastic bags, which have been very popular for a long time. These bags however cannot be recycled and takes decades to decompose.
Recycling not only helps the environment but it has also helped in generating employment and income opportunities. There are many technicalities involved in setting up such a business, but like every other business, the main thing required is dedication and a desire to succeed.
Decide what materials to recycle
You have the option of choosing from numerous recyclable items namely glass, paper, plastic or rubber.
Find a warehouse
As you will be collecting materials in bulk, you will need a lot of space to store them. A warehouse will be an ideal place for you to start your business.
Purchase or lease a commercial compactor and baler
You will have to make some sort of initial investment to start the business. Buy or lease out the required machinery to process your material.
Promote your cause
Interactive media is on a high these days. Take advantage of social media websites to promote your business and make the public aware of your business. You can also do this by printing your advertisements on the newspapers. You could make pamphlets and paste them on sidewalks or hand over to people who pass by. There can also be case of attracting potential investors to your business, making deals which benefit both parties in the longer run.
You cannot carry out this business on your own and need dedicated staff. There are two sides to hiring staff in a recycling, collection and technical. While you can compromise on the experience aspect in case of collection, make sure that you hire well experienced people to run your machinery.
