How To Stop an Engine Vibration

Believe it or not, nobody wants to drive a car with the engine making dragging noises. It not only is a pain to hear those noises while driving, it is also quite harmful for the engine itself. We all know that there are several reasons why an engine can make such noises. For instances, the engine could be out of oil or maybe it would require tuning. However, what we do not know is how to stop these noises.

    To start with, open the hood while the car is on and concentrate on where the hissing noise is coming from. A hissing noise would indicate that there is a air hose loose or disconnected from the joint. If this is the case, simply reattach the hoses. You would have to replace the hose if they are damaged.

    If it is not a hissing sound then your engine is probably missing. Engines can cause vibrations when they are missing, which means one or two of the cylinders in the engine are not working. In case it is a missing sound, you will have to change the spark plugs. If the spark plugs are in good health then simply rub the inner part with some sand paper. At times, debris can cause these plugs to not work properly.

    Next, you need to check the ignition wires to see if they are in good health. At times, these wires can crack due to engine heat. You need to check if they are properly fitted to the spark plugs. They need to be tightly fit to the plugs.

    You will have to check the engine mounts if all the above steps have not worked out. Engine mounts are thick rubber blocks, located between the engine and the chassis. Now, at times these mounts are filled with hydraulic liquid. You will have to see if the mounts are leaking or not. You can simply insert a crowbar between the chassis and the engine, and put some pressure on it to move the engine away. Now, you will easily get a view of the mounts and you can check if they are cracked or not. Unfortunately, you cannot change the mounts yourself so you will have to take the car to a mechanic.
