Fill the bath tub with cold (21-27 degrees Celsius), warm (27-34 degrees Celsius) or hot (38-40 degrees Celsius) water, depending upon your situation and preference. It is widely believed that bathing in warm and hot water is relatively more relaxing than with cold water. But if you are about to go out again after a day at work, an aromatherapy bath in cold water will be quite handy.
Add a few drops of aromatherapy bath oil to the your bath water as the tub is filling up. The aromatherapy bath oil will not only ease stress, but will also moisturize and nourish your skin. If you are using essential oil, it is better to use it with a carrier oil. The carrier oil prevents the essential oil from being too strong. Add five to ten drops of essential oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil and add it to your bath.
Place a bath pillow. If you don’t have a bath pillow, roll up a towel and place it in the bath tub.
Take a loofah brush and rub it in gently in circular motions all over your body before getting into the bath. Skin brushing increase circulation of blood.
Lie down with your head supported by the bath pillow, or rolled towel, and relax in the bath water with your eyes closed and head free of thoughts.
Soak yourself for 15-20 minutes.
Allow yourself to enjoy the aroma of essential oil before ending your bath.
Pat your body dry with a soft and warm towel.
