Guide to Heartburn Relief

Ask yourself, what is that burning pain in your chest that wakes you up in the middle of the night? What it is, is simply acid rising when it’s not supposed to. It could be a reaction to certain foods or a clinical disorder.

Now, how do we control that pain? We simply nullify the acid. The build-up of stomach acid can be horrendous. But, with the right stuff, you can calm those bodily fluids down. Instead of rising, the acids do exactly what they should be doing, settling to give you and stomach some peace.

Of course, heartburn can attack at anytime of day. You bend over, and those acids can rise up. You run, exerting your body in certain ways, and those acids can churn. But, it’s when you lie down to go to sleep, you feel just fine, and then, at 2 o’clock in the morning you jump out of that wonderful dream and grab at your chest where that sharp pain is just giving a world of hurt.

What you do is relax, go on a certain diet or start taking some medication.

The Zone diet, which is actually more like a lifestyle than an actual diet is the balance of foods (protein, carbohydrates, fats). The foods you eat, include salads, sandwiches on rye, apples, oranges, plain yogurt mixed with real berries. The workout to make the food is just as much exercise as if you were jogging 3 miles every 2 hours, everyday. But, you won’t be disappointed.

There is always the quickest, easiest, and most reliable way to get heartburn relief, and that’s with certain on-the-shelf medications. While Tums work for some people, others might consider using Pepcid AC. It’s arguable that Pepcid is easier on the stomach, where Tums may actually be more abrasive. Take one or two before you lay down to get to bed every night, and you’ll sleep soundly the whole night through. For the more severe cases, you should definitely consult a doctor and get some prescription medication.

Other good ways to relieve your heartburn is by taking a moment to breath, relax, and do something that makes you happy. Stress is a big cause of heartburn. You work yourself up over a bill, worry over the welfare of a family member, you’ll be feeling miserable all over, but if you have heartburn trouble – that pain in your chest will be the worst of all.

There are many ways to get quick or permanent heartburn relief, you just have to make the effort to find it. If you don’t you’ll be having those painful night sleeps that keep you up, and or send you running to the bathroom, queasy from that bile in the back of your throat for the rest of your life. If you just recently started to feel a sharp pain in your chest when exert yourself or lie down to go to bed, get on medication or a healthy diet now.
