Too Late Tonight?

Can we get together, my old friend?
I know it’s nearly eleven
And a weeknight, and yes,
You go to work at seven.

How long has it been since then?
Years already but still dreaming,
We might yet set the world on fire
I, for one, alive and still scheming.

How are the kids and your wife?
A great family for a great man,
Guess you can say one thing,
That some things go according to plan.

She left me Mike.
I thought I did everything right,
But it’s over, I’m slipping,
I need you, friend, to tell me it’s all right.
